Camp made for the night at Merriwa. The fee Nazi lady has collected her lot. She is one of those “slab” sheilas.......short little angry bastard... Doony asked her what the weather might do. Her answer was “yes, and don’t forget to lock the dunny when you leave it” That was all we got out of her and she was off, with hubby at heal.......🐶

Sorry...that was MERRIWA.
Two old blokes left Merriwa before 7:00 this morning and arrived at Tumbarumba about 5:00.........just 35 km of the Hume. The other 665km of back road tar and dirt had Doony smiling so hard he is in bed now and snoring.💤💤💤💤💤💤💤 poor old thing 😝

Tumbarumba......no milk in the fridge and we forgot to buy some, so ..... No coffee for Doonie. No breakfast cereal for both of us. So......on the road at 6:00am headed towards Corryong and the BAKERY 😝 3 degrees as we left Tumba on roads I have travelled many times but always in the opposite direction. I have to say, the views going south are absolutely spectacular with the early sun on the hills and valleys. Going the other way, you just do not see much of it at all. As I am usually leaving Tintaldra on the way to the Alpine Rally in mid winter, the area is mostly shrouded in fog or misty rain. It was a bloody great delight to see it basking in the morning sunshine and the temp had reached 6 degrees by the time we were in Corryong enjoying a hot coffee. Next was the Nariel Valley and up over the range to Benambra, Omeo,Bruthen etc. on the way to Briagalong where I left Doonie opening little plastic bags. A whole bunch of toys he had ordered ( sorry, serious model stuff ) for his crane had arrived and was distracting him as a 7 year old would be distracted by a bunch of Christmas presents.
Home, showered and happy hour 🍷. 16 days and 4620km of great riding and company. Can life get any better......well yes. Changing bikes and leaving again next week for a Ural tour in the New England area. Hmmm, didn’t I just get home from there ?
Thanks for your cooking Doonie 😀

Planning begins. Expressions of interest invited. No wimps. It isn't easy to have this much fun. Next year I plan to go like buggery to the top of the trip and then chugalug home.

Well written account of the trip. I wondered what you guys were up to after I left. Were there many at the Russian Rally?

A few turned up Friday night. Unfriendly bastards. We chose to leave early Saturday and they suddenly turned friendly, urging us to stay. Mind you we hadn't registered at that stage. Maybe I am being unkind. Maybe I am used to being fairly well known and at that rally, we were unknowns from way down South. Be that as it may. Home was beckoning, so home we went.
